Hi again from the safety behind my laptop. Before we start todays blog post I just want to put it out there that I am sendng my prayers towards Paris. What a horrible tragedy, ya'll are loved. So on that note, today I ripped up a pair of my old jeans and created something fabulous out of it. This is also my first DIY post and I hope that you guys enjoy this simple DIY. I found this jean purse really easy and fun to make. The only thing I really struggled with was the straps. I am totally convinced that they are going to rip, but that is why I am here t give the viewers (you) advice about it. If you create this look, please send it to me. I love to see what you guys create. You might even be on my blog. |
You Need - a pair of old jeans - sewing machine (or can be hand sewn) - essentials (scissors, ruler, etc) Step 1 For step 1 you are going to take your jeans and lay them on a flat surface. Take your ruler and use fabric chalk to measure out preferable size for the basic purse part (where you are going to put your stuff in) Go ahead and cut the leg holes off until you have a pair of shorts. Once you have a pair of shorts you are going to cut the seam where, on jeans it usually connects the two legs (if that makes sense) If you have done step 1 correctly you now should have a denim mini skirt. Step 2 So, for step 2 you are going to turn your mini skirt inside out so that the seams are facing you. Go ahead and sew that leg hole up but NOT where your hips usually go. You need to be able to have an opening to put your things in. When you are done sewing, turn it back to the "good side" or the side with the textiles. Step 3 Now for step three you should already have the purse done. For the strap you are going to take the extra fabric from the legs. You will cut a large amount off the whole leg fabric and then cut that strip in half. After that you will have to do a simple fold and sew technique This will lead to a nicer looking strap for the bag. You will fold the two sides you will sew and do that to both straps. (NOTE you made two straps because you cut the big piece of fabric in half) Once you have repeated this step to both straps you will sew then together at the ends to create one large strap. Step 4 For step 4 you are going to take the long strap and then tie each end to the little belt holders on each side. Now you are ready to rock this purse and look super cute. XOXO, Soah |
